Wild Salmon Adult Dog Food

This is the recipe we point people to when a dog is scratching more than it should and nobody can say why. It uses one animal protein, salmon, so if you do need to run an elimination diet with your vet, you are starting from a clean, readable label rather than a blend of four meats and a "meat derivatives" line.

The kibble is a 10mm cushion shape that most medium and large dogs can crunch without bolting. Salmon oil is added after the kibble is cooked rather than baked through it, which is the part owners tend to notice first: coats look less dusty around week three, and the shedding on the sofa drops noticeably by week six.

Feeding is straightforward. A 20kg adult dog on normal daily walks needs roughly 280g a day split across two meals; the scoop line on the bag matches that. If you are moving over from another food, take a week and mix in a quarter more of the new food every two days. Dogs handle change badly when it happens overnight.

Bags are foil-lined with a proper resealable strip, so the 12kg is genuinely worth buying if you have the cupboard space. Store it in the bag rather than tipping it into a bin: the liner is what keeps the oils from going stale, and stale fish is the one thing a dog will refuse.
