Frequently asked questions

Delivery, returns, repeat orders, products and accounts. Where something is not built yet on this storefront, the answer says so rather than describing a button that does not exist.

Delivery

How much is delivery, and when is it free?

Standard delivery is €4.95 anywhere in Ireland and free on orders over €45. Northern Ireland and Great Britain are £4.95 and free over £45. The basket shows how far you are from the threshold rather than leaving you to work it out.

How long does an order take to arrive?

One to two working days for standard delivery in Ireland, two to four to the UK. Orders placed before 1pm on a working day are picked the same day. Bank holidays and the week before Christmas add a day or two, and we say so on the basket when they do.

Do you deliver outside Ireland and the UK?

Not at the moment. Pet food crosses borders under animal by-product rules that vary by country, and we would rather say no than have a pallet of your dog’s dinner held at a border for three weeks.

Can I have an order left with a neighbour or in a safe place?

Yes. Add the instruction in the delivery notes at checkout and the courier will follow it where the address allows. Large bags of food are heavy, so a safe place that keeps rain off is worth specifying: a wet 15kg bag is a ruined 15kg bag.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

Send us a photograph within 48 hours of delivery and we will replace the item or refund it, whichever you prefer, with no return required for split food bags. We would rather you did not post a burst sack of kibble back to us.

Can I track my delivery?

Tracking comes from the courier by email once a parcel is scanned into their network. Order tracking inside a Wexfur account is not live yet. Ordering on this site is not switched on, so we are not going to show you a tracking page that cannot know anything.

Returns

What can I return?

Anything unopened and unused, within 30 days of delivery, in a condition we could sell it in. That includes beds still in their wrap, unworn harnesses and sealed food bags.

What can I not return?

Opened food, opened treats, used litter and anything engraved or made to order. Food safety law does not let us resell an opened bag, and an ID tag with your phone number on it is not much use to anybody else.

My pet refuses the food. Can I send it back?

Tell us anyway. We cannot resell an opened bag, but for a first purchase of a new recipe we will usually refund or swap it once as a goodwill call. We would rather you tried something than have you stuck with fourteen kilos of a food your dog has decided against.

Who pays for the return postage?

We do, when the item is faulty, wrong or damaged. If you have simply changed your mind, the return postage is yours. Either way, contact us first so we can send the right label. An unannounced parcel takes much longer to match to an order.

How long does a refund take?

Five to seven working days from the item arriving back with us, to the original payment method. Card refunds then take another day or two to appear depending on your bank, which is out of our hands.

Subscriptions

How do repeat food orders work?

Pick a food, choose a repeat interval of four, six or eight weeks, and it comes through automatically at eight per cent off the one-off price. You get an email three days before each order goes out so nothing arrives as a surprise.

Can I change or skip a delivery?

Any time up to the moment it is picked. Change the date, the bag size, the recipe or the quantity, or skip one cycle entirely. There is no minimum number of deliveries and no fee for cancelling.

What can I put on repeat?

Food, litter, dental sticks, supplements and fountain filters: the things that run out on a schedule. Beds, harnesses and toys are not on the list, because nobody needs a bed every six weeks.

Is the repeat discount live yet?

Not yet. Repeat ordering is not switched on in this shop, so treat this page as a description of how it will work rather than a button you can press today.

Products

How do I choose between recipes?

Start from your animal rather than the bag. Life stage first, then any known sensitivity, then kibble size for the mouth in front of you. If nothing is wrong, an everyday complete food with a named meat at the top of the list is genuinely the right answer.

How do I switch my pet onto a new food?

Over seven to ten days, and fourteen for a sensitive animal. A quarter new food for two days, then half, then three quarters, then all of it. Switching overnight is the single most common cause of the upset stomach people then blame on the new bag.

Do you sell prescription or veterinary diets?

No. Those should be dispensed by the vet who diagnosed the condition and who is monitoring the animal on them. We will happily tell you which of our foods is closest in composition if you are between appointments, but that is not the same thing and we will say so.

Are your chews safe to leave with a dog unsupervised?

No chew is, ours included. Hard chews carry a tooth-fracture risk and any chew becomes a swallowing hazard once it is short enough to fit whole in the mouth. Stay in the room, and take it away when it gets small.

Why is the same food a different price per kilo in different sizes?

Because packaging and shipping are a bigger share of a small bag. The large bags are better value per kilo, but only buy one if you will finish it within about six weeks of opening. Stale fish oil is the one thing a dog will refuse outright.

Is stock on this site live?

No. Availability shown against a product is seed data for this build, not a live warehouse count, and we are not going to dress it up as one. Once the inventory service is connected, this answer changes and this page changes with it.

Account

Do I need an account to order?

No. Guest checkout will always be there. An account exists so that repeat orders, addresses and order history have somewhere to live, not as a toll gate in front of a basket.

Can I sign in right now?

The account screens are built, but there is no authentication backend behind them yet, so nothing you type will create a real account or sign you in. We would rather show you the shape of it honestly than fake a login that does nothing.

Where are my basket and wishlist stored?

In your own browser, on your own device. They are not sent anywhere and they are not tied to an identity. Clearing site data clears them, and they will not follow you to another machine until accounts are live.

What do you do with my data?

We collect as little as we can get away with: what is needed to pack a box and get it to a door. No third-party trackers load unless you accept analytics, and we do not sell anything about you to anybody, which should not be a selling point but here we are.

Is checkout taking real payments?

No. Checkout here is a preview and is not connected to a payment provider, so no card is charged and no order is created. Do not enter real card details anywhere on this site.

How do I get hold of a human?

Email hello@wexfur.ie. We answer Monday to Saturday, nine to six, usually within a working day. There is no chatbot in front of it and there is no queue number.
